It's a date!

Today we had a pretty big day. This morning had to go in for one last ultrasound at the specialist to make sure the baby is still measuring big. Which he is, of course. He is about 8 pounds 9 ounces! At first we were laughing but then this weird guilt hit me. Had I eaten so poorly throughout the pregnancy that his weight was out of control? Should I have exercised more? Were my dates off? I asked the doctor if his size could be an indication of some underlying condition and he answered with a laugh "He is completely healthy, you're just giving birth to a toddler!". That definitely made me feel better. I hadn't done anything wrong, we just have an adorably chubby bun in the oven! Anyway, he went on to explain that if I was one of those moms who insisted on attempting a traditional delivery (which I'm not), he would strongly discourage it. But again, if I insisted, he wouldnt want me to go any later than Friday. Instead, he suggested we have a csection to avoid any possible complications, and to have it done early next week!
So we finished there, and headed to our regular weekly OBGYN appointment. There she pretty much echoed everything the specialist said and the date was set...
Drumroll please....
Our little boy will be born this Tuesday, September 4 at 11:30!!
Oh my goodness!! We are SO excited! Having an actual day makes it so much more real! I can't wait to snuggle him and see Riley hold his little boy. It's going to be a great day.
Anyway, after the appointment I was lucky enough to have my Young Women throw me a surprise nautical themed shower! It was the cutest thing! I am truly amazed at the incredible women that surround me. Our ward is made up of some of the most generous and giving people I have ever met and the girls did such a great job planning. The food was divine, and games were so fun, and it was great to sit and chat with the girls and the sisters from Relief Society. We got the exact last minute things we needed, plus some SUPER cute outfits for little man.
Here are a few photos from the shower. Thank you again ladies!

Full Term!

Well, here we are! We made it!
Riley and I were talking yesterday about how we never thought this time would come. I remember back on New Year's Day, when we found out we were pregnant, feeling like I had forever to go. And now it's here! Our little guy could technically come any day now! However....
We went to the doctor for our weekly appointment yesterday and she went over our ultrasound results with us. Just as expected, Baby Boy Stewart is measuring way ahead of schedule. His head is in the 74th percentile, which is big, but not ginormous. The concern is with his chubby belly. The abdomen is over the 95th percentile, which means his shoulders are probably pretty broad as well. Our little line backer!
So....
We have another ultrasound a week from today just to touch base. If his growth has not plateaued, we will schedule a c-section then. To be honest, I am totally fine with it. Our little guy being such a tank is really a huge blessing in disguise. Because he will be born a week early, he will have more time to grow, and I will have more time to recover before we fly home for Tanner and Jess' wedding next month. Also, because it is a scheduled procedure, our moms will be able to fly out in time for the birth!
We are so excited! Last night we set up the crib and rocker in our room. I loved waking up this morning and seeing the baby corner just waiting for him to arrive. Two weeks left!! Xoxo

Oh boy!

We have known all throughout this pregnancy that this little boy of ours was big. He has measured ahead of schedule since about 12 weeks. But yesterday we got to go for an ultrasound to see just how chubby this little boy is. We hadn't had an ultrasound for almost 10 weeks, so it was so fun to go see our little guy again!
The tech started out by taking some pictures of his stomach and kidneys and measuring the amniotic fluid (which apparently I have a lot of) and then checked the length of his spine and thigh bones. She showed us his hands (by his face as usual) and then moved on to measure his head and tummy to get an approximate weight. Our little sumo wrestler is weighing in at a whopping 6 pounds 10 ounces already! And we are only 34 weeks. Which means that this not so little man is about 3 and a half weeks ahead of schedule! I was a bit shocked, then a bit terrified. I am running out of room as it is, and I still have 5 weeks to go! Holy moly! The tech was awesome though. She just explained that a big baby means a healthy baby, and even pointed out that baby boy already has tons of hair! I guess if you can see it on a sonogram, it has to be a pretty good amount! Yay! So cute!
Anyway, we have another appointment on Monday to discuss the possibility of an early induction or a c-section. Which are both fine with me. The sooner our chubby baby comes (as long as he is good and healthy of course) the better! We can't wait to meet him!
