Red Bank Triathlon

This past weekend Riley ran his first triathlon of the year with his buddy Nick from work. Nick and Kelly are our next door neighbors and we have become great friends with them over the past year, so it was fun to watch the boys compete together, and take it easy with Kelly on the sidelines.
Riley did fantastic, of course. It's so exciting watching him do something he loves so much and something he is so good at. The weather was perfect, and it was a great way to start off the summer!

A Rainy Day in NYC...

Tuesday we made our monthly trip to the temple, and with the babe set to arrive at the end of the summer, we have been trying to squeeze some activities in the city while we still can.
This month we went to the Museum of Natural History. It was pouring rain all day but it was so fun to run around New York under our little umbrella! We also found a new, and fabulously delicious, pizza place while trying to wait out the storm. So that was an added plus.
The museum was a blast. There is so much to see, and after spending a good two hours there, I'm sure we could go back for another two and see just a much. But that's for another day!

23 weeks, and 2 stitches!

It has been an eventful week around the Stewart household!
For starters, our little beanie turned 23 weeks on Sunday. It's so crazy! These past couple of months have flown by and Baby Stewart will be here in just 3 short months! We are so excited! The baby has been super active lately. It seems like as soon as I lay down at night, he starts doing flips. Riley has gotten to feel a few good jabs. It's so fun seeing his reaction to his son kicking around in there!
We also had a little hospital adventure this week. On Monday night I was making dinner and was trying to separate some frozen hamburger patties. With a knife. Like an idiot.
Anyway, the knife slipped and I gave myself a pretty deep cut. As soon as I did it, I turned around to Riley and as calmly as I could said "Ri, I need stitches." I have never in my life had an issue with blood, but as soon as i looked at my hand, I got super hot and dizzy and nauseated. Yet another joy of pregnancy I suppose! My handsome EMT of a husband was quick to sit me down, get ice on my neck, and assess the damage. After about five minutes of debating whether or not to just glue the thing ourselves, it was decided that with a baby on the way, we had better go get it looked at.
The first hospital we went to had about an hour long wait and with the guy behind me coughing a very flemmy cough, and the woman in front of me trying to cry her way into a room first, my sweet husband jumped into action again. He called the next closest hospital, explained the situation, and somehow managed to get me right in to a room upon arrival at the other ER.
I got two little stitches, and a tetanus shot, which I might add was FAR more painful than the stitches. Through it all, Riley was so sweet and patient with me. I'm sure I was farrrrr more dramatic than was necessary, but he just stayed calm and made sure I was comfortable. I couldn't love that man more if i tried. He really is going to be the best dad.
Here are some 23 week photos... And a few of my nearly severed thumb. Just kidding, it wasn't THAT bad!

It's a...

Last week we were able to make a spontaneous trip home for a few days to spend some much needed time with the fam. While we were in Salt Lake we went to Fetal Foto to find out whether we were shopping for pink or blue. My whole family was able to come and it was so fun to be surrounded by family and to see my little sister's reactions to the ultrasound. The minute the tech put the wand thing on my belly, we could tell right away IT'S A BOY!!
We are so stinking excited! I had a feeling from the very beginning that it was a little boy. Every time I looked at an ultrasound, or thought of names, it was just a boy. So I wasn't the slightest bit surprised, I don't think anyone else was either. But it was still so exciting! He seems so much bigger than the last time we had an ultrasound. I loved seeing all his little features and his chubby tummy and his ears just like his daddy's. It's truly amazing the blessings technology can bring!
I have been feeling pretty great lately. I get some pretty gnarly heartburn at night, but that's about it. The baby has been super active, especially around bedtime. I guess it takes him a while to settle in for the night too. Riley was finally able to feel him kick yesterday and it seems like all day today he has been doing flips!
Anyway, it's been a very exciting and busy couple of weeks, but I'll post a belly picture soon. I'm lookin pretty round these days!
